Blue Eyes

In case anyone was wondering, Evan and I both have blue eyes.  We took pictures to see whose was more blue.  And Evan definitely won the contest.  So hopefully we are destined for some blue eyed little babes.

Alyssa's Wedding

Alyssa got married two weekends ago and it was so pretty and fun.  Evan was a wonderful photographer for the day, and he took tons of pictures which was amazing of him.  So here are some pictures of the big day!  Congrats Lyss, we are so happy for you and love Clay lots!

Rossignol

Yes it's true.  I have quit from Rossignol.  It was a rather sad day for me, seeing that I have worked here for 2 1/2 years.  I will miss all the friends I have made, accounts that I talk to everyday, especially the Dealer Services ladies, oh and don't forget all the free skis.  The change will be good though, closer commute, more pay (yay!), and promotions (hopefully). 

So sorry to anyone who didn't pounce on the chance to get discounted skis from me.  Can't help you anymore.  Overall Rossignol has been an awesome job for me while I was dating Evan, engaged, and newlyweds.  Now that we have mastered those hurdles I can upgrade to a grown up job where I have to wear business clothes (boo).  Even quitting from Rossignol won't change our love for skiing, it will probably just increase it because now we won't take everything for granted.  Getting discounted seasons, and the best equipment was a huge perk.  Now we can expand our minds to all the other great ski brands out there, (I was a little biased before).  Here's to a great ski season next year!

Friends

My best friend from high school is getting married this Saturday.  We have all been in each others' weddings and have been so close for over 8 years now.  Yikes, that sounds so old.  Needless to say since we have been friends for so long, I think our husbands think we are all nuts when we get together.  One of them, Wendy, doesn't live here.  So when she does come into town, it's the best day ever because the 3 of us get to hang out.  My mother in law sent me this quote and it's so so true:

It could happen to anyone

Last week a friend of my friends died.  I know that sounds confusing.  But the main issue with the death was how it happened.  He got trapped in an avalanche.  They had a big group of people and were testing the snow, digging the holes to look at the layers of snow and doing everything according to the book and they realized the conditions weren't ideal and something bad could happen.  As they were heading out of the area they were testing, an avalanche went off over them and swept up two of the guys.  One of them was able to punch his glove out and sweep the snow away from his face and was found with just a concussion.  The other didn't make it, and it breaks my heart for his wife, who I know from college.  The whole situation makes me sick to my stomach. 

Everyone knows that Evan is a big back country skier.  And yes it's not to the extent that he skins his way up to find the untracked powder, but he is getting there.  I called him and asked him to refrain from this activity at least until next season.  With the warmer weather, the conditions are so fickle and you never know what the layers are doing underneath the slush.  I can't even imagine what this poor girl is going through.  Having to lose her husband, it just seems devastating.  It also reminds all of us how precious life is and how an everyday activity can lead to something dangerous.  My heart breaks for his young girl, they were out with friends enjoying one of the greatest sports and something happened.  No one can predict that would happen, but it also reminded Evan and I how dangerous the elements are and how you need to respect nature and be educated.

Overall this week, and the last couple of months have been hectic for us.  We have been incredibly busy with work, skiing, and everyday activities.  It's been a wonderful winter and I wish it could go longer.  But my best friend is getting married and I highly doubt she'll want snow on her wedding day.  So let's hope it clears up!  I hope everyone realizes the importance of their loved ones and maybe give your special someone an extra hug today.  I know I have given Evan at least an extra 100 hugs over the last week.
