The Big 27

We have a running joke in our group of friends that 27 is when your dreams end and you have to accept that your life is the way it is and move forward.  Once again, this is a running joke.  I'm not trying to say this is actually true.
I'm not sure if Evan was exactly pumped to be turning 27, because he is now in the official late 20s group.  As a side note though, this was the 4th birthday we have spent together.  Over the years I feel like you learn something new about a person every year you are with them.  New things you appreciate, or realize you take for granted.  This year was a huge milestone for us because Evan got an amazing new job which he loves, but he traveled all winter.  I'm not talking one or two weekends a month, try more along the lines for 2-3 weeks at a time.  It did test our relationship, and at the end of the season I feel like we were 500% stronger then we were before.  It taught me to appreciate Evan so much more, and don't take time we have together for granted.  Also I missed all the little things he did, yes even the farts.  I think when you don't have that person around, you miss all the things you might classify as "annoying"  I know personally for myself, I was thankful everyday Evan was home and would try to go out of my way to make him feel special when he was home.  Because being on the road for 2-3 weeks driving....it just doesn't sound fun.  But true to Evan form, everything was always great.  That's what I love about him, every single situation he can always turn into something either positive or funny.  There is never a situation he will enter that he will just constantly bash something, there is always something positive about it.  I'm so thankful I'm married to someone with that outlook because I need someone to make me laugh when it's a pretty dismal situation.

Over this last year, Evan has accomplished so much.  He has gotten a new job, basically revamped the whole demo program for the West (since there wasn't one, he basically invented it), is constantly making himself indispensable and a valuable employee, completely re-did our kitchen and dining room, got stitches from a broken toilet, has run 3 half marathons, ran a crazy hard leg at Ragnar, made me realize that nothing is too hard (example, Ragnar, broken foot, Evan saved the day), does everything with a smile on his face, the dogs literally worship the ground he walks on, is so sweet to people (even neighbors we hardly know), adores his family, has completely changed our financial situation because he is awesome with money, is constantly pushing me to become a better person because he is such a great example of what I want to be.  I adore Evan, not just love, I adore him.  He is literally the perfect piece to my puzzle and I couldn't be more thankful for him and that he was born.  October 11th is a pretty special day to me.  Spoiling the one I love because of everything he does for me and our little family.  Hope you had a wonderful birthday Evan.

Here are some pictures of him opening his presents yesterday!

He got a lot of cool ski stuff, beanies, long johns, socks, a wallet, Iphone cover, shirts, some shoes.  He has very specific things he asks for.  I love the list he comes up with every year because I would never in a million years guess that is what he wanted.
